Do you want to bring your waste to a waste recyling centre? Then you will need an access pass for the waste recyling centres.
The waste recycling centres are meant for residents of Almere. With the access pass you will be able to provide proof that you are a resident of Almere. Each address has received 1 access pass. The access pass is supposed to be used by everyone who is a member of this household.
At every waste recycling centre's entrance you can find a barrier. A member of staff will be standing at the barrier to check your access pass. A photo of the access pass on your phone will not be seen as sufficient evidence.
You can deliver your recycleable belongings at the waste recycling centre in Almere Buiten without an access pass.
If the access pass is broken, or if you lost your access card, you can get a replacement card at the waste recycling centre. Please bring a mail item with you: a letter that has recently been sent with your name and address. For example, a letter of the bank or the Tax Administration (de Belastingdienst). This can also be a digital letter that you have on your phone. Make sure to bring your proof of identity (driving licence, ID card, passport) with you so that we can verify if you are the person to whom the postal item belongs.
Every household in Almere pays money for waste: this is called the waste fee (afvalstofheffing). This is used, for example, to empty containers and to transport waste to the recycling centre. The processing of waste that is transported to the recycling centre costs the municipality - and therefore its residents - money. This is why we want to ensure that only Almere residents will be able to bring waste to the recycling centres.
We have often seen companies and people from other municipalities make use of the recycling centres in Almere. Residents from other municipalities will have to bring their waste in their own municipality. Companies will have to enter into a contract with a processor of commercial waste.
The paper access pass is only proof that the visitor of the recycling centre is an Almere resident. We do not keep a tally of how often you use our services or what kind of waste you bring with you.
You may bring another Almere resident's waste with you to the recycling centre. It does not matter if you bring your own pass or that of someone else. If you often bring the same type of waste over and over again, then it is possible that we may approach you in order to discuss this. This is because we are not allowed to accept commercial waste. We may take these actions based on the observations of the recycling centre's administrator.
Because every Almere household received an access pass, we can still keep the recycling centre open for everyone. Several other municipalities have also introduced access passes for recycling centres in recent years. This has not caused an increase in waste dumping.
Do you happen to still see waste dumping take place? You can report waste dumping online. We will then pick up the waste.
In the future there will be a system with electronic passes and a card reader. You can then open the barrier yourself by scanning your pass. We expect this to be possible in 2026 or in 2027. Until then, you can use the paper pass.
You are not allowed to bring commercial waste to the recycling centre. Companies will have to enter into a contract with a processor of commercial waste. They can also bring their bulky waste to:
