An identity card (ID) has to be personally requested in city hall. This can only be done by appointment. There are costs attached to this request. The ID will be ready for pickup after 5 working days. You do not need to make an appointment for the pickup.

Children younger than 12 years can only apply for an ID with the permission of their parents (authority figures). Parents give their permission digitally a minimum of 2 working days before the appointment. If the authority has been appointed by the court, then make sure to bring an excerpt of the gezagsregister (authority registry) along. More information can be found on the Rechtspraak.
Children (regardless of age) need to be present at both the application and the pickup of the ID.

Don't have a DigiD? Then you can pick up a consent form at the Burgerzaken desk at city hall. Complete the form (only available in Dutch) and bring this along to the appointment. The signature on the form must be the same as on the proof of identity provided.
Children from 12 years on can independently apply for an ID. Permission is not needed.
The ID is usually available for pickup after 5 working days (after 10:00 o’clock). You do not need to make an appointment for pickup. Read the opening hours of Burgerzaken.
Do you urgently need an ID? Make an appointment online to request a new ID. When you make the appointment, you can indicate that you would like to make use of the urgency procedure. There are extra costs attached to this.
If you request the document before 13:00 o’clock, then you can pick it up the next working day after 10:00 o’clock (conditional). You do not need to make an appointment to pick up your ID. Read the opening hours of Burgerzaken.
