Postal address

A postal address is the address of a person or an institution that wants to receive your mail if you do not have an address of your own. The person who will have your mail sent to them will have to ensure that you will then receive your mail.

Conditions

If you want to apply a postal address, you will have to meet the following conditions:

  • You will need a DigiD for the digital form. Read here to learn more on how to apply for DigiD.
  • You are registered in the Netherlands. If you are not, you can register yourself in Almere or the municipality you currently stay at
  • You will leave the country for no longer than 8 months
  • You temporarily have no permanent living or residential home due to special circumstances. You are, for example, homeless, or you have a special occupation, such as a skipper
  • The postal address is an official private residential address in Almere or the address of the Salvation Army Almere (Leger des Heils)
  • The postal address is not a PO box, empty address, office, business premises or campsite

Ensure permission primary resident first

Before you can apply for a postal address, the primary resident of the address you register as your postal address will have to grant their permission with a form. If you wish to have the Salvation Army be your postal address, then you do not require permission from the primary resident.

Attach documents

You will always attach this permission primary resident form when applying for the postal address below. Also attach a copy of the proof of identity of the primary resident, unless you want a postal address at the Salvation Army.

Before you complete the postal address form, make sure to have digital copies (photos or scans) of the correct documents. That way you can complete the form in one go and you will prevent any complications or delays.

Which other documents you may need depends on your personal situation.

We will request these documents because a postal address is an exception. It is not the same as a residential address. The municipality has to decide if you have the right to a postal address and if it abides by the rules. This is important because your registration will have an impact on subjects such as care, benefits and taxes. It could be that we require additional information or that we will invite you for a conversation. The municipality could also investigate your addresses of residence.
