Simplified Overview of the Diversity and Inclusion Network Strengthening Grant for Residents

To make it as easy as possible for Almere residents (private individuals and self-employed people without employees) to apply for this grant, we have listed the information that applies to you on this page.

What is a grant?

A grant is money provided by the municipality to support a good idea or activity. You can use this funding to carry out your idea and then report on what you have done.

Who can apply and how much can you apply for?

Any resident of Almere can apply for this grant. You do not need to have a foundation, association or company. You can submit your application yourself using your DigiD.

The maximum grant amount for residents is €15,000.

Good to know

  • The available budget is limited.
  • Applications are processed in the order they are received. This means that the first complete applications will be considered first. Once the budget is used up, no more funding can be awarded. A total of €300,000 is available.
  • Submitting an application does not automatically mean you will receive a grant. Each application is assessed individually.

What types of ideas can receive funding?

This grant supports activities for people who experience discrimination, exclusion or unequal opportunities. Your activity must help create an Almere where everyone can participate.

For example:

  • Bringing together young people from different backgrounds
  • Activities for people with and without disabilities
  • Events that encourage interaction between different cultures
  • Activities that reduce loneliness
  • Activities that help prevent discrimination
  • Activities where residents learn from each other and work together

What can you use the grant for?

You can apply for funding to cover costs that are necessary to carry out your activity. For example:

  • Hiring a venue
  • Materials and supplies
  • Promoting your activity
  • Guidance or support
  • Hiring someone with specialist knowledge or experience
  • Food and drinks during the activity
  • Volunteer expenses
  • Compensation for your own work and effort

Important: the costs must be necessary for the activity and suitable for what you are planning to organise.

A full overview of eligible costs can be found in Article 5 of the grant scheme.

When can you apply?

Applications can be submitted until 31 December 2026. You must submit your application at least 8 weeks before your activity starts. Your activity may begin in 2026 or 2027 and must take place no later than 31 July 2027.

What do you need to submit with your application?

Please provide the following:

  • A completed application form
  • A simple budget
  • An activity plan that includes:
    • How your activity contributes to at least one of the grant objectives.
Explain why the activity is important and how it helps achieve the aims of the grant scheme.
    • Your experience and knowledge.
Explain any personal experience or knowledge that is relevant to the activity. Also explain why this experience is important. Describe how you are connected to the target group, in this case marginalised groups in Almere. Show that you already work with these groups or with an organisation that has experience reaching and involving them.
    • How you will promote the activity.
Explain how you will inform people about the activity and how you will make sure the target group knows about it.
    • A timetable for the main steps of the activity.
Describe when the activity will take place, how you will measure its success, and when you will report back to the municipality about the results, the activities carried out, and how the grant money was spent.
    • How the activity will be accessible.
Describe the steps you will take to make the activity accessible. For example, an accessible venue or clear and easy-to-understand language.

For applications of up to €5,000, a short explanation is sufficient.

For applications over €5,000, you must provide more detail about how people from the target group will be able to participate and how you will communicate with them.

When will my application be approved?

Your application must meet all assessment criteria.

If information is missing or one part of the application does not meet the requirements, we may ask you to provide additional information or improve your application.

What do you need to do after receiving a grant?

After your activity has finished, you must tell us how it went.

Within 13 weeks after the activity, send:

  • A short report of no more than one A4 page
